Michael Kutsche

http://freshpics.blogspot.com/2009/02/michael-kutsche-digital-art.html

Michael Kutsche creates work very similar to what I would like to do. Most of it is kind of sci-fi-ish or just weird, while other pieces are humorous and cartoonish to some degree. The delivery of color is fantastic, it's all very vivid however in many of his pieces he focuses on the use of one vivid color. I find more and more that I am drawn to strange and vivid pieces. I also find that my definitions for terms like vivid are expanded all the time, for example a piece that is black and white can still be vivid but could also be described as dramatic as well. It's interesting to me how my mind continues to reshape and reform what I thought I knew, though it seems the more I learn from other artists the less I am sure of myself.

Interesting Typography

This design combines 2 different aspects together. It gives kind of a sense of David Carson with the use of typography and "legibility". The way the composition was split in half is an interesting way to break it up. The left half plays with font and type while the right half plays more with textures.

Hey guys, this is an image for subaru. Its an advertisment for its' cars' traction. Obviously this is not real, but it is hard to tell that the image was digitally altered to give the cars the upside down look. I like this as a creative advertisment and grabs my attention a lot to look to try and find out how they did that.

here is the website I got this image off of.

Moon over Duncliffe by Annie Taylor

I love the colors in this painting and the starkness of the design.

Pop Art Zebra

I found this design really interesting because it is so simple because it uses only simple lines and shapes but it still get the point across. I also like it because it contradicts what a zebra is supposed to be. They are supposed to be only black and white but this one has all different colors in it instead.

7 Eleven

24 Unique and Creative Advertisements

This was one of the examples of creative advertising techniques from all over the world.
I thought this was an interesting idea to catch the viewers eye because it is out of the ordinary. The use of color and texture in the ice make the slurpee being advertising more appealing. her expression is also comical which made this even more successful in my opinion.

So this magazine is great, I paint a lot, so it's a great reference and here is some art work that have made the cover...

New Money

Well these are some of the new designs for bills that want to be printed but won't be because they are not as great as the color we got now and the drastic change is to much. Even though they have a meaning behind them. The change between how the bills look is to great.

David Carson

This semester I have a lot of stuff reguarding typography.. and I noticed that an artist that keeps inspiring me.. is David Carson. I love the look and feel that is given off of his work. The Movement, and the balance with space and type. The usage of type and cropping out different areas.

picture convine with a graphic

I post these images because I really like the idea of convine with picture to a graphics. The artist convine these two togather very well, even makes me could not tell which one is graphic and which is the real picture.

Quotes!

This is a collection of artist's quotes laid out in a poster format. I love the contrast of the textured background and rough edges against the clean and bold text. I think the quotes themselves are wonderful, and the layout is very modern, which is an interesting take on such dated (although still very applicable) quotes.

Ron Mueck

Mueck’s sculptures faithfully reproduce the minute detail of the human body, but play with scale to produce disconcertingly jarring visual images.

I was looking up some stuff and came across this image..it's similar to some things tiffany posted in the past, i just thought it was really interesting. The way the design is used in his body, it's really crazy and it has a tattoo aspect to it, i just love it.

Chad_new image

Hey guys, here's another image that caught my eye. I like the use of the bright warm colors. Also it is nice how this artist is able to outline the face and all the aspects about it to give it a clear look of what this person looks like with just lines. You can find this image at:

Agua by Flor Garduňo

This is a photographer whose work I really like. There's a magical, almost surreal, quality to her photos. I like this photo because of the light, the way the waterfall in the background stands out and frames the water nymph in the foreground.

Some City Photography

I'm a big fan of the city and all the different elements it captures, with grid structure, movement, contrast, colors, alignment. I like to use different images such as these as a template for a layout spread. here are some of the images i've used already and other ones I have yet to use.

Mosaic

I always find mosaic art really interesting to look at. It is a form of art that would like to try sometime.
I especially like this one because the artist used some different objects to create it. It looks like it contains some of the typical objects that are used for making mosaics such as some rocks and beeds but they also used bigger and untraditional objects like the geers that make up her hair.

Simplicity

This image caught my interest because of the simple shapes creating strong movement throughout the composition. My eye gets drawn in on the black shapes trying to form an object and then the red and yellow help to move your eye from the black and through the rest of the composition.

Ultra Resolution Photography

Something I've been hearing a lot about lately is ultra high res photography of various settings and objects. Here's is a site with a number of ultra resolution projects...

http://iipimage.sourceforge.net/demo/

There are certainly a number of popular uses of this technology, including zoomable online galleries of artworks. There is an example of this on the link above, and it's amazing because you can see the cracks in the paint from this obviously very old piece. Aside from the obvious exhibition possibilities the ability to create a giant masterpiece would certainly be included as a use for designers as well.

Typhography

I like this design very mcuh. It looks very simple, but very unique.
I like the idea of the artist using the typhograohy to explain the girl's curl hair.
Sometimes, I think too deep and could not find a good answer for good design,
but sometimes, complex design as not good as simple design, such as this one.

there are a lot of example for the artist design many different types of logo, typhograpyh, and picture!!!

You Are Cordially Invited...

This is a series of invitations by Keetra Dean Dixon. I love how she uses a typically mundane topic, a formal invitation, and makes it original and fun. Her unexpected invitations to "invest in the fantastic" or "twist the cynical loop" make me smile, and the invitations themselves are very visually pleasing as well, especially the typography. Her letters are beautifully crafted and so unique, I could look at them for quite some time.

Also, I stumbled upon this useful design resource site and I thought I'd pass it along-

It is especially helpful if you are looking for the dimensions of something with a standardized size (postcards, dvd and cd inserts, envelopes, etc.)

James Brown

I really like this image. It has a good use of cool colors that are being used to give the image a certain feel. This is a great use of typography to create the face of james brown. Looks like this artist took a long time sketching and brainstorming where they wanted what words and how big they wanted them. This example gives the impression that he is singing because of the words going out from the head in a radial way.

Dancing with the Sun

This image is on the cover of a magazine I subscribe to and it really caught my eye. I love the colors, the movement of the drawing, the simple images. The artist's name is Mara Berendt Friedman and you can find more of her work at http://www.newmoonvisions.com/home/nm1/smartlist_109/artnote.html.

Illustrations - Alberto Seveso

I'm really interested in the usage of the body and forming the different words on to them...and completely forming the shape of the body using other illustrations.. the use of color and everything is really balanced out.
I found this and i thought it was pretty interesting. The color choices are great and I think the outline is unique, I like that it's only there in certain places. I think the use of black in his shirt also lets the remaining colors pop out more around the composition. I just think it's pretty cool, has a pop art mood to it.

Virtual Galleries?

An example of yet another potential artistic outlet...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1kGxCP0x0co

When I saw this I imagined creating some sort of dreamscape as part of a project, something like this could easily be engineered to cater to not only wide audiences for movies and videogames but also to the digital artist looking to expand into more realistic artwork or even as a way to portray quite literally a virtual gallery of their own work. Something like this would allow viewers on say the internet or in a museum to navigate through a virtual gallery of an artists work, where the gallery setting itself could be fully customized to the artists liking. I realize I'm a technology nerd but there's so much potential for beauty from the innovations to come.

Interesting

I found this design while searching the net. This really caught my eye with the colors and because of the strong diagonals it uses. The way the bottle blends into the background color with certain features emphasized also helps this piece too.

beyond penmanship

This piece caught my eye because of the way the artist used only lines to create something that is visually interesting. They were able to give it texture and depth just by the way that the lines are arranged next to each other. It also keeps your attention and leads your eye through the entire piece because there is so much movement.

Invisible Creature

This is the website for the design firm Invisible Creature. They do a lot of quirky character designs for posters, album covers and advertisements. I really like their childlike style and subtle use of texture. They do a lot of great work and are definitely worth checking out.

Honey skeleton

I like the idea how the artist using hornets' nest to created another object which is skeleton. As an artist, we need think about how the art could become more abstract and creative, and this is a good example for us to create an abstract piece.
Also, the artist create two types of bees, so it make me to think about a role of bee.

I was on the communication arts website, and I was looking through featured artists and found an illustrator named taylor callery. Here is one of his pieces along with the website i found it, it's pretty interesting..

design in sports

Hey guys check this out. I like the way this image portrays the human muscles but also gives it a robot feel. Real nice graphics. Check the web site out, there are some other cool images.

DVD Cover Design

Francesca Alvino Work - Someone who I have worked very close with, her work is absolutely amazing, in this particular DVD cover which was all done in photoshop I love the texture that was used and the usage of the different images to put together, the usage of the blood like tear drops really enhances the face and makes it pop. I love how the text almost is apart of the face but still manages to stand out just enough. The typeface that was picked out was enough where it works with the project, it's still readable with everything going on and yet doesn't over power too much...

final vector artwork

This is an interesting design of a phoenix I found on http://www.webdesignerwall.com

On this website it gives design ideas, new trends and great tutorials to follow :)

Technology and Art

I can't say how much or in which ways technology will enable artists in the coming years or the far flung future, however it is obvious with a little research that major changes will be made.
For instance the advent of consumer 3D technology is readily available, for a steep price still, but it will come down in price over the next few years. Holographic hard drives, that is hard drives that store data 3-dimensionally are already here, though they are mostly for government use, research, and other extremely high end users. Quantum computing is here and its coming up fast. This being the point of my article.

http://computer.howstuffworks.com/quantum-computer1.htm

We are at the cusp of giant changes in technology, things are about to get much faster and much weirder. This article explains how quantum computers are already here, though they are in their infant state, but explanations are abound about how qubits will be replacing the bits we are all used to understanding. Binary is the generic term for using 0s and 1s, yet quantum computing utilizes 0s, 1s and everything in between or what the scientific community calls "Superpositions". Schroedingers cat is the metaphor used to describe these superpositions of states and its also why quantum computers happen to be so fast, they're able to process multiple tasks at once where old school turing machines are unable to do so. For people who don't understand how computers work, it's going to get much worse. It will be akin to how mechanics feel around cars that don't utilize traditional mechanics.

Alberti CerriteƱo

this illustration uses textures extremely well. this composition keeps my mind going from the whale to the water to the "speech bubble" and back around looking at the detail in the textures and each aspect of the design.

Milan cathedral, Italy

I have always had a fascination of architecture, and especially gothic cathedrals. I find all of the incredible detail that go into these buildings combined with the sheer size of them really remarkable to look at. I would love to someday travel to Europe to take a tour of some of the classic Cathedrals.

Innovative Alarm Clock Design

Being a night owl myself, I am typically inclined to ignore my alarm clock in the morning and wait to be dragged out of bed by my roommate. I was looking through this list of clever alarm clocks recently, and was very impressed at the ideas behind them. They really push the boundaries of the traditional alarm concept and I feel they would definitely get me out of bed, especially the bacon clock... Mmmmmmmm, bacon...

huh?

cubism

Cubism developed in France between 1907 and the early 1920's. The name "Cubism" comes from an insult by another artist, Henri Matisse. He called a painting by Georges Braque: "petits cubes", or little cubes.

Since the Renaissance, many artists believed perception and space were best shown with linear perspective, a mathematical system used to imitate nature. Artists using these ideas show a fixed point of view.

Cubist artists, on the other hand, show more than one view at a time. A Cubist painting may show the front of a face and the side of a face at the same time. You can see this in Picasso's Girl with Dark Hair on the right. Modern studies of perception have shown that people do not view things from one fixed, all-encompassing place, but from an infinite number of glances which are then connected in the viewer's mind into one picture.

Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque were two Cubist artists who showed how space can be cut-up, distorted and transformed into different planes and views. Cubist painters asked themselves: "Is reality in the eye of the spectator, or is it whatever appears on the canvas?"
